Summit vs. Ascent: Which Pinnacle Leadership Program Is Right for You?

Learn about how our two psychedelic-assisted leadership programs compare in length, framework, logistics, and assessment.

Summit vs. Ascent: Which Pinnacle Leadership Program Is Right for You?

No two leaders walk the same path. Some executives may be thriving on the surface but may be crumbling on the inside. In contrast, others may face noticeable challenges and limitations in performance that need to be addressed, despite feeling otherwise healthy in life.

There’s an endless array of challenges you face as a leader, regardless of the industry or level of seniority you find yourself in. The roots of these challenges are immensely complex to identify and address.

That’s why many leaders are turning to psychedelics, namely psilocybin, to enable personal breakthroughs that significantly impact their ability to lead effectively and meaningfully.

Pinnacle’s two leadership development programs, Summit and Ascent, were created to meet this need for those looking to incorporate psychedelics into their leadership development. The two distinct programs are designed to unlock leadership growth in different ways through structured psilocybin sessions, coaching, psychological support, and integration, albeit with a different level of focus and emphasis.

This article outlines the key differences between our programs, allowing you to determine which one may be the right fit for you if you’re an executive or leader seeking psychedelic-assisted development.

Comparing Program Length and Framework

One of the main differences between Summit and Ascent is the time spent within each development program. Summit takes place over nine months, with numerous coaching and psychological support calls surrounding two, week-long immersive psilocybin retreats. The extended arc of Summit is intentional, as it enables leaders to delve deeper into the roots of their personal blockages and provides the time to focus on specific levels of change, guided by the Summit Leadership Development Framework. This unique framework is designed to maximize individual growth and needs time to do so.

Ascent, which lasts approximately five months, takes a slightly different direction. It still carries the core pillars of Pinnacle’s development approach—professionally guided silocybin sessions, executive coaching, and integration of the experiences—but on a more self-directed path. Where Summit provides a custom development framework that spans months and guides the entire process, Ascent offers an option for leaders to engage in extensive coaching work before and after a psilocybin retreat with MycoMeditations, which we will discuss further in the next section.

Both Pinnacle programs are serious commitments designed to catalyze significant improvements in your personal and professional life. Their distinction lies in how our team collaborates with you to achieve your goals through the chosen program.

The Psilocybin Retreat: Specific to Leaders vs. Therapeutic Group Experiences

Immersive psilocybin retreats are the foundation of both Summit and Ascent. Psilocybin is what catalyzes the profound shifts you’re seeking, and you can experience this through either of our psychedelic-assisted leadership programs.

What’s different is the atmosphere of each program’s retreats.

Within Summit, there will be two retreats. These retreats will be private to that Summit cohort, and the format is designed exclusively for leaders. Executive coaches will be at the retreat alongside extremely skilled psychedelic facilitators and licensed therapists, in addition to Pinnacle co-CEOs, Sharon Toye and Justin Townsend, leading the retreat.

This exclusivity creates an environment where the focus remains squarely on leadership development. We have designed a bespoke program for each day of both retreats to fit into the larger Pinnacle Leadership Development Framework that surrounds the two immersions.

By contrast, clients of Ascent will join one retreat with MycoMeditations, the company led by Justin Townsend. MycoMeditations has served more than 2000 guests across the past decade, and has administered over 6000 psilocybin therapy sessions. Here, you’ll be part of a group of guests joining for a multitude of reasons. Some will be joining the retreat to overcome depression, others for relationship challenges, and perhaps others seeking a professional shift themselves.

The reason this general retreat format is still effective for you as a leader is that MycoMeditations retreats, although designed to be as therapeutic as possible, are not exclusively for treating mental health conditions. Ultimately, it’s a psilocybin retreat where individuals come together and work with psilocybin to address their unique personal needs. Psilocybin is non-specific in this way. Despite it being touted as a revolutionary mental health treatment, it can help anyone who engages purposefully with it.

Whether it’s the exclusivity of a private retreat exclusively for a cohort of leaders or the shared experience of a group retreat, both paths offer access to psilocybin in a safe, professionally guided, and conducive setting for meaningful inner work.

Working with the Pinnacle Psychedelic Leadership Team

Our programs offer uniquely powerful ways to access psilocybin for leadership development and work with executive coaches and psychological experts in a way that isn’t available anywhere else.

With Summit, the relationship with our team is a total immersion experience spanning approximately 8 months. From the first exploratory call, clients are in close contact with Pinnacle’s co-CEOs, Justin and Sharon. The program includes ongoing one-on-one coaching with Sharon, psychological guidance with Justin, and group integration calls with your cohort of leaders. Sharon and Justin are available for on-call support throughout the entire program.

Summit provides a stream of continual touchpoints with everyone involved before, during, and after retreats. Our team’s involvement is highly personalized, ensuring that each client’s journey remains coherent, supportive, and aligned with their goals while working with the Pinnacle Leadership Development Framework.

For those joining Ascent, clients also engage directly with Pinnacle’s leadership team, as Sharon will serve as your executive coach throughout the program. Justin will sit down with you for an integration session during your time on retreat at MycoMeditations as well. Your program is a steady coaching relationship with Sharon to set you up for MycoMeditations as best as possible, and to turn your retreat insights into meaningful leadership change.

Approaches to Client Assessment for Psychedelic Leadership Development

Both of our programs utilize assessments to highlight leadership strengths, challenges, and the changes that have been made. These diagnostics provide valuable baselines that help our team understand where you stand at the beginning of either program, and help measure transformation throughout the journey.

Summit uses a bespoke assessment model created specifically for Pinnacle. This includes a combination of custom personality and leadership scales that map directly onto the program’s design. These assessments were developed through deep analysis of scientifically validated rating tools and professional consultation. The assessments are deeply personalized, offering insights that become touchstones throughout the nine-month program.

Summit also provides customized reports, which are delivered to you throughout the program as assessments are completed. These reports will inform the areas of focus with the Leadership Development Framework.

Ascent utilizes standardized assessments that have been validated across the fields of executive development and coaching. These tools provide valuable insights into psychological health, leadership style, and growth opportunities, which we will work with you to generate insights and takeaways from.

In short, Summit assessments are highly customized, while Ascent assessments are standardized yet still highly relevant.

Psychedelic Leadership Development and Integration

The real measure of these programs is how your participation translates into improvements in your leadership capacities. Summit and Ascent both ensure that leaders can join either program and realize genuine, recognizable growth in their personal lives and professional abilities to lead successfully. Our team ensures that your psilocybin experiences are integrated back into your life as seamlessly as possible.

Summit’s Leadership Development Framework guides the development and integration throughout the program. Nine months of structured coaching and ongoing psychological support follow a system of growth that builds upon itself over time. This framework focuses on enabling significant personal change from the inside as a first step. Our team works with you to catalyze this shift, both before, during, and after the first retreat immersion. The program then shifts its focus to translating these changes into outward leadership adjustments during the second half of the program, with this being the focus of your second retreat as well.

Ascent takes a flexible approach, working with you in whichever direction your leadership development needs to go, based on your goals. As your coach, Sharon will also ensure that you arrive at MycoMeditations fully prepared to make the best use of the retreat experience. Your retreat will instigate significant personal changes that we will help you synthesize into newfound leadership abilities. You will also be joining the post-retreat integration offered by MycoMeditations to your retreat group.

Both of our programs are designed to ensure that your participation can lead to significant improvements in your leadership capacities, and we consider it our mission to help you achieve this.

Community and Alumni Pathways

Another distinction between our programs lies in the community dimension of your program.

The leaders of Summit will be a small, specialized cohort of high achievers. The cohort itself will be an invaluable network. Clients experiencing this transformative process alongside one another will form bonds within the cohort that allow for additional connection and growth. Summit alumni will also be among the first to access Pinnacle’s growing network of leaders who share a commitment to bold inner and outer transformation through the most cutting-edge channels.

Those who join Ascent experience a more private connection within Pinnacle, while also becoming part of a broader community through MycoMeditations. Your work with Pinnacle will mainly be one-on-one with your executive coach. Still, you will participate in all the offerings provided by MycoMeditations, having become a guest of theirs as well. While this community won’t be purely leadership-based, going through this profound experience with others has invaluable benefits, regardless of the focus on leadership.
